Markdown emphasis corrections (#5588)
* Add markdown formatting to extras/formatting.sh
* Correct formatting in markdown
* Warn on unrecognized argument in formatting script
* Print all diffs in formatting script
* Correct markdown emph formatting
* Don't format markdown by default
